Institutional bodies of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic
of Uzbekistan and their structures

The Senate of the Oliy Majlis as an upper chamber of the supreme legislative body consists of the following institutional bodies: leadership of the Senate; Kengash (Council) of the Senate; committees of the upper chamber.
The Senate can establish respective commissions to deal with specific issues, as may be necessary. All of the mentioned bodies consist entirely of senators who perform their duties within the Plan of the Senate’s activity in various spheres of the social and political life of the country. Senators perform their functions primarily during plenary sessions, making major legal, socio-political and economic decisions collectively for the sake of the effective development of the country.
It is important to note that institutional bodies of the Senate aim at supporting the Senate plenary sessions.
A distinctive feature of bodies included in the general structure of the Senate is that all of them are elective and formed in plenary sessions with the exception of the Secretariat which focuses on organizational, informational and logistical support of senators and all institutional bodies of the Senate as a whole.
