Kengash of the Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis Convenes for a Session
Kengash (Council) of the Senate of Oliy Majlis convened in Tashkent on 20 April 2015 for a session. The meeting was chaired by the Senate leader Nighmatilla Yuldashev.
The Kengash adopted a resolution to call a second general session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on May 15 this year in the city of Tashkent.
The agenda of the forthcoming meeting of the Senate will include a range of bills of the Republic of Uzbekistan directed at consistent implementation of reforms and liberalization of all spheres of political and socio-economic walks of life. Among them are the laws on compulsory insurance of civil liability of the carrier, on securities market (new edition), on electronic commerce (new edition), on the introduction of amendments and addenda and recognition of ineligibility of some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as other draft laws envisaging the further enhancement of socio-economic reforms, improvement of the investment climate and business environment, promotion of entrepreneurship, perfection of the judicial sphere and information security.
The plenary session agenda is also expected to include a number of draft laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the ratification of international agreements.
Along with this, the senators at the upcoming general meeting are to discuss reports on the activities in 2014 of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman), the Audit Chamber of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Nature Protection.
Participants of the general session will also deliberate on other issues within powers of Uzbekistan’s Senate.
The Kengash of the upper house of the parliament set up a working group to coordinate the efforts of committees and the administration of the Senate to prepare and hold the second general session.
